While in the past, Trump was very no-nonsense about immigration, it seems as though now he finds that the support for DACA is impossible to ignore. In recent news, Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) Stated that the democrats are in the process of negotiating with republicans to provide a significant investment on border security in exchange for DACA.
Many of the congressmen are concerned because DACA is about to end and there will be millions of people without any help. The focus now is on a long term DACA fix rather than ending the program itself.
As of now it is unclear how President Trump will act. He has yet to push for a more right leaning DACA bill. However, it seems that he might be as hard on immigration as he was before seeing that he had no change of heart during the jury decision earlier this month to acquit an undocumented immigrant of killing a young women.
Our Verdict: Congress has the right idea to work together on this bill. We think that it would be Trump's best interest to not interfere.
