The Los Angeles Tinderbox

With the increasing number of ICE officials raids in the state of California, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti is growing concerned. The source of his concern comes from the tensions that already exist in his city from the immigrant communities against federal officials, especially ICE agents.

Garcetti is worried that with the increasing number of raids, this might cause the tension to boil over, causing rioting in the streets. He is calling the current climate a “tinderbox." It has been 25 years since urban unrest occurred in the city of Los Angeles, but these current situations could light the tinderbox.

OUR VERDICT: A fall into unrest would undoubtedly jeopardize the relationship the LAPD has developed with immigrant communities over the past years. It is vital at this time that order is maintained.
