Two undocumented immigrants from Mexico were recently detained by ICE agents. The men have lived in the United States for over ten years and were working on construction at the Travis Air Force Base at the time of their detainment. The two immigrants did not have social security numbers and were reported by a military officer on the base as a result. The men were denied immigration hearings.
This story has reached national news, as the men were not causing any trouble and had committed no crimes other than entering the United States illegally. Many people believe that after living in the United States for over a decade, the two men deserve a fair hearing.
Our Verdict: It is not uncommon for immigrants who have committed no crimes, other than illegally entering, to be detained. The number of arrests of immigrants with no criminal records has grown substantially since President Trump has come in to office.
